How do we configure so that the default setting is archiving off?

SYMPTOMS:

Our customers often use mailman lists but seldom care to configure them properly. A common problem is that the quickly create a list and then a couple of months later they discover that Internet search engines have indexed their mail archive. In most cases this is not desirable at all. How do we configure so that the default setting is archiving off?


RESOLUTION:

You can disable archiving in the $MAILMAN_ROOT_D/Mailman/mm_cfg.py with the option:

DEFAULT_ARCHIVE = Off
